Impact magnet

The impact magnet is a magnet with an empty core current plate structure, used to change the trajectory of the electron beam for injection and extraction. In order to deflect the beam effectively, the impact magnet is required to generate a high pulsed magnetic field with a certain flat top width within a very short rise and Fall time time. The impact magnet power supply adopts a centralized layout of 4 impact magnet injection systems to improve the stability of the light source operation and improve the performance indicators of the light source. Four ferrite impact magnets are all installed on a linear injection section of about 3 meters, forming a horizontal convex rail independently, achieving relative independence between the convex rail parameters and the storage ring focusing structure parameters.

The impact magnet power supply adopts a centralized layout of 4 impact magnet injection systems to improve the stability of the light source operation and improve the performance indicators of the light source. All four ferrite impact magnets are installed on a linear injection section of about 3 meters, independently forming a horizontal convex rail, achieving relative independence between the convex rail parameters and the storage ring focusing structure parameters (LA TT ICE). Four impact magnets are excited by two pulse power sources (one pulse power source excites two parallel impact magnets), reducing the time jitter between the impact magnets and making the injection convex rail more in line with injection requirements. The current waveform of the pulse power supply is a half decaying sine wave, which acts on the impact magnet to generate a convex rail magnetic field that meets the requirements of multi turn injection. The electron beam from the linear accelerator is injected into the storage ring for accumulation, and then slowly accelerates to 800 M eV for operation. This article mainly introduces the design method of the pulse power supply and provides testing and operation results.
