However, in recent years, with the rapid rise of housing prices in first tier cities, the increase in job competitiveness, and the relatively low treatment, second and third tier cities have gradually shown a strong "magnet effect" in the employment market with their good development prospects, relatively elegant and comfortable working environment, and relatively relaxed living conditions, attracting college graduates and senior talents. In November 2010, according to an online survey, more than half of the surveyed white-collar workers began considering finding a comfortable life in other less stressful cities.

Among the respondents who have lived in the first tier cities for more than three years, 55% said they would choose to leave in the next few years, mainly because of the high housing prices and the Cost of living in big cities. Respondents generally believe that it is more practical and practical to seek personal development and living space in second and third tier cities such as Hangzhou, Qingdao, and Xiamen, rather than enduring so much life pressure while staying in these big cities.
